January and February mileage

I seem to of kicked the years riding off pretty well (by my standards at least).

in January i managed to ride 260.3 miles with 17,064ft of climbing.

February was marred by my wife getting Pneumonia so i had a rest bite from riding mid way through the month, still managed 205.2 miles and 12,110ft of climbing.

On February 7th i went for my first visit to the Forest of Dean trail centre with a few friends. After a nice cup of tea from Pedalabikeaway and a chin wag we rode two laps of the blue Verderers trail and one lap of the red graded Freeminers trail.. both  good fun and challenging in equal measures. No doubt we will be visiting again at some point, although the loops were small they offered plenty of grins per mile and by the end of the ride plenty of mud! 🙂

In other news i have decided it is time to sell my Specialized Roubaix road bike, although it is fast and efficient its just not ticking the boxes in terms of the amount of maintainance required to keep it running nicely and also the quality of the road that i have at my local disposal. To this end i have just purchased a Kinesis Crosslight Pro6, it has rack and mudguard mounts, discs mounts a threaded bottom bracket and features a beautifully made aluminium frame and carbon fork. i will be selling the Roubaix to fund the rest of the build, hopefully some reasonable wheels and a 105(ish) groupset. this should hopefully slightly less delicate than a full blown road bike and also open up some other options for routes within sensible reach. I will add more details and pictures as things develop.

So as it stands my 2015 Year to date is 465.5 miles and 29,174ft of climbing.

Keep pedalling all!
